Governing law
This website and everything sold through it or at the club is governed by New Zealand law, including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986. Disputes go to New Zealand courts — though in seven years we've settled everything at the desk over coffee, and we'd like to keep it that way.
Nothing on this page limits your rights under NZ consumer law, which can't be contracted out of anyway.
GDPR — your rights (EU/UK visitors)
If you're in the European Union or UK, the General Data Protection Regulation gives you extra rights over your personal data. Even outside the EU, we apply the same standard — it's simply how data should be handled.
- Access — ask what personal data we hold and get a copy.
- Rectification — have wrong or incomplete data fixed.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data ('right to be forgotten') where no legal duty requires us to keep it.
- Restriction & objection — pause or object to specific processing, including anything resembling marketing.
- Portability — get your data in a structured, commonly used format.
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent (like the cookie banner), you can withdraw it any time.
Our lawful bases are contract performance (bookings, memberships), legitimate interest (running the club), and consent (cookies, marketing). Full details of what we collect and why sit in the privacy policy — read it together with this page, they cover the same ground from different angles.
To exercise any right, email choiceupliftlane@gmail.com with 'GDPR request' in the subject. We respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority — though we'd appreciate the chance to fix things first.
Intellectual property
The ChoiceUpliftLane name, logo, site design and the text on this site belong to the club. You're welcome to share links and quote us with credit — lifting whole pages or our logo for your own materials is not okay. Member photos are used with written permission; if you spot yourself and want the photo down, say so and it's down.
Liability notes
Training has risks — that's honest, not a disclaimer trick. The club's responsibilities and yours are set out in the terms of service and your membership agreement. Nothing on this site is medical advice; health decisions go to your doctor or physio, not a website.
Changes to this page
When this page changes materially, the 'last updated' date at the top moves and we note it at the desk for a month. Continuing to use the site or your membership after an update means you accept the new version — read it before it matters.
